Ideas Factory Turns 30

We are celebrating our 30th birthday here at Ideas Factory!

A great deal has changed since 1986 and the studio has seen it all. For over 30 years we have chosen independence and integrity over expansion and commercialism. To acknowledge this milestone we’ve created an online quiz. To play simply visit our virtual studio at ideasfactoryturns30.co.uk and, with the help of clues from popular culture and the design world, correctly identify each of the five featured years – you might even win a Karlsson flip clock!

Go on, that email can wait...

LCC Summer Show

Recently, we travelled up to Elephant & Castle on our annual trip to the LCC Summer Show.

The identity for this year's show was designed by Paul McNeil and Hamish Muir and is a typographic treat. You are greeted at the entrance by huge type, constructed from silver vinyl that quite literally mirrors the suns rays (provided you picked a day with weather like ours.)

As always we were blown away by the level of work exhibited, plus it is always exciting to see a few of our past interns exhibiting! Keep up the great work LCC, we’ll be back next year.

Information Age

The IF team were really impressed on our recent studio visit to the Science Museum, eagerly wanting to see their most recent gallery 'Information Age'.

A collaboration between Bibliotheque and Universal Design Studio, it showcases more than 200 years of innovation in information and communication technologies. Split into six zones, you wander through the different technology networks of the past 200 years; Cable, Exchange, Broadcast, Constellation, Web and Cell.

Well worth a visit its part of their permanent collection, plus its free!

Pick Me Up Festival

Last week Ideas Factory stepped out of the studio and ventured over to Somerset House for this years Graphic Arts Festival - Pick Me Up. Amongst the many, many highlights of the fair we were immediately drawn to Thibaud Herem's amazingly detailed architectural sketches, while Richard Horne's computer key series of gocco prints got us all chuckling.

On until the 5th May make sure you get down to feast your eyes on this visual delight. Click here for more information.

A Warm Welcome!

A big hello to Lizzy, our current intern and talented illustrator. Studying at LCC she is currently on her year out gaining as much experience in the design industry as possible. She's been helping us with some great work and inspiring us all to let go of our mice, pick up our pens and get doodling!
